4.2 Programme Requirements/Qualification Profile of the Graduate<br />
The master-programme in philosophy aims to qualify students to reflect critically on scientific and social issues; it<br />
enables students to make analytical and well-founded judgements based on historical, systematic and methodological<br />
knowledge of the subject. Students will acquire the following qualifications: a) a profound understanding of<br />
the fundamental principles in philosophy and their rich history, b) the competence in independent philosophical<br />
thinking and research, c) acquaintance with classical as well as contemporary theories, d) the ability to make a<br />
comprehensive and critical text analysis, i.e. to reconstruct arguments, recognize fallacies and identify implicit<br />
presumptions, e) the ability to transfer above mentioned skills to non-philosophical and non-academic fields.<br />
The course programme leaves considerable freedom for individual selections of further special qualifications that<br />
complement the core competence in philosophy.<br />

General grading scheme cf. See. 8.6 - Grades are complementes by an ECTS grade: "A" the best 10 %, "B" the<br />
next 25 %, "C" the next 30 %, "D" the next 25 %, "E" the next 10 %.<br />
