Mr. Clarence McKelvie and his Research<br />

Committee are working hard<br />

to give you something worthwhile to<br />

have for future use, while the e.xecutive<br />

board and advisory committee<br />

are planning a varied and interesting<br />

program. Part of the program will<br />

be a demonstration of visual aids<br />

especially adapted to handwriting.<br />

We will send you an advanced copy<br />

of the program as soon as it is completed.<br />

Of course we are all hoping to<br />

at the Ritz-Carlton on Wednesday<br />

at the convention of the Eastern<br />

Commercial Teachers Association<br />

which is to be held at Atlantic City<br />

on March 21, 22, and 23. Congressman<br />

T. V. Smith, the well-known<br />

Representative from Illinois and Professor<br />

of Philosophy at the University<br />

of Chicago, will make the keynote<br />

speech of the convention on<br />

Thursday morning, March 21. A<br />

widely known authority in his field,<br />

Doctor Amos Squires, former Sing<br />

Sing Prison doctor, will participate<br />

in the program as the banquet<br />

speaker on Thursday evening.<br />

In addition to these very prominent<br />

people outside the field of Business<br />

Education, the program will also<br />

include a panel discussion in which<br />

will participate all the members of<br />

the Business Education Commission<br />

that is headed by John G. Kirk, Dilector<br />

of Business Education in Philadelphia.<br />

<strong>The</strong> entire program on Friday will<br />

be devoted to section meetings in the<br />

various fields and subject matter<br />

areas of Business Education and will<br />

be addressed by carefully selected<br />

and authoritative speakers in their<br />

respective fields.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se preliminary announcements<br />

seem to indicate that the Eastern<br />

Commercial Teachers Association will<br />

this year present to its members a<br />

program of outstanding value.<br />

<strong>The</strong> local committee in Atlantic<br />

City under the direction of George<br />

E. Hess has made elaborate plans<br />

pertaining to the details of the convention<br />

which should make it a very<br />

enjoyable one for those who attend.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Hotel Ambassador in which the<br />

convention is to be held has announced<br />

a special schedule of reduced<br />

rates for rooms which will be in<br />

effect not only during the convention<br />

but also for the week-end and week<br />

following for those who would like<br />

to enjoy a more extensive stay in<br />

Atlantic City. However, in order to<br />

take advantage of these rates for the<br />

extended time it will be necessary for<br />

members to be registered at the Hotel<br />

Ambassador not later than Thursday<br />

evening, March 21.<br />

NATIONAL HANDWRITING<br />

COUNCIL<br />

<strong>The</strong> National Handwriting Council<br />

will meet jointly with the Department<br />

of Supervisors and Directors<br />

of Instruction of the National Education<br />

Association in St. Louis at the<br />

convention of the American Association<br />

of School Administrators.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Council will meet as a separate<br />

section Wednesday, February 28, at<br />

2:.30 P.M.<br />

<strong>The</strong> forty-second annual convention<br />

of the National Commercial Teachers<br />

Federation was held in Pittsburgh,<br />

December 27, 28, 29 and 30, and reports<br />

an attendance of over three<br />

thousand members. This was a record<br />

breaking meeting in attendance<br />

and in the quality of the program<br />

and meeting.<br />
