Whtn thf young child has something- to say he has a means of expressing it in a provocative and graphic<br />

manner. Early expressions convey the fact that children draw what they know rather than what they see. In<br />

order to maintain interest in handwriting a child should be encouraged to express his own thoughts and experiences.<br />

Pupils in the primary grades enjoy writing original poems and stories. <strong>The</strong> above illustrated<br />

poem was written by Becky Ruley, a member of the Handwriting Methods Class at St. Mary of the Springs<br />

College for Women, Columbus, Ohio.<br />
