Pioneer Penman<br />

A little known but one of the<br />

greatest penmen of our time, Thomas<br />

George Little, was born near Oakvale,<br />

West Virginia, February 24,<br />

1857 and died at his home in Athens,<br />

West Virginia, September 16, 1939.<br />

Mr. Little became interested in<br />

penmanship at an early age and<br />

maintained this interest until the<br />

end. He was not content to plod<br />

along as a home student, and by the<br />

strictest economy, he managed to<br />

save enough to go to Oberlin College<br />

where he came under the influence of<br />

such men as Uriah McKee and J. T.<br />

Henderson. While there he achieved<br />
