electrical, natural, gas, and water distribution lines; pumping<br />

stations, lift stations and telephone switching facilities [up to 200<br />

square feet].<br />

b. Class 2 - Elevated water storage tanks; package treatment plants,<br />

telephone switching facilities [over 200 square feet], substations,<br />

or other similar facilities in connection with telephone, electric,<br />

steam, and water facilities.<br />

c. Class 3 - Generation, production, or treatment facilities such as<br />

power plants, water and sewage plants, and landfills.<br />

(87) EVENT<br />

a. Business Event<br />

A Business Event is defined as a special outside exhibition or<br />

activity on the exterior <strong>of</strong> a business’ premises or on a public<br />

sidewalk directly abutting the business’ premises. Activities such<br />

as, but not limited to, the use <strong>of</strong> a temporary tent, live music,<br />

ribbon cuttings, raffles and live radio promotions are considered to<br />

be a Business Event. A sale may be part <strong>of</strong> an event, but sales<br />

advertising alone does not constitute a Business Event. A nocharge<br />

zoning permit must be obtained from the Code Compliance<br />

Division prior to conducting any Business Event.<br />

b. Business Promotion<br />

A Business Promotion is a marketing promotion for a business for<br />

sales items or advertising specials. Business promotions are<br />

permitted in all commercially zoned districts. A no-charge permit<br />

must be obtained from the Code Compliance Division prior to<br />

conducting a Business Promotion.<br />

c. Grand Opening Event<br />

Grand Opening Events are permitted for any new or relocated<br />

business in the <strong>City</strong>. A Grand Opening Event is an event to allow<br />

potential clients and customers know that a new business has<br />

opened or relocated. A no-charge zoning permit must be obtained<br />

from the Code Compliance Division prior to conducting a Grand<br />

Opening Event.<br />

d. Temporary Promotional Event<br />

A Temporary Promotional Event means an inside or outside<br />

exhibition, community breakfast, craft fair, vacation bible school,<br />

sale or similar activity. A Temporary Promotional Event requires a<br />

no-charge Temporary Promotional Event permit that must be<br />

obtained from the Code Compliance Division prior to conducting<br />

the event. A Temporary Promotional Event permit may be issued<br />

for non-residential uses located in residential zoning districts,<br />

such as but not limited to, churches, private clubs and golf<br />

courses.<br />

(88) EXISTING DEVELOPMENT<br />

Structures, buildings, site specific plan or other projects that are<br />

completely built or that at a minimum have established a vested right as<br />

<strong>of</strong> the effective date <strong>of</strong> this ordinance based on at least one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following being satisfactorily proven to the Department <strong>of</strong> Community<br />

Development for the specific development in question:<br />

a. Question 1- Substantial expenditures <strong>of</strong> resources [time, labor,<br />
