(185) PERMITTED USES<br />

Uses allowed to occur by right within a designated zoning or other<br />

planning district.<br />

(186) PIER AND PIER FACILITY<br />

Any structure extending into the water from the shore, whether floating<br />

or fixed.<br />

(187) PILOT PLANT – MEDICAL<br />

An establishment or part there<strong>of</strong> used to test out concepts and ideas and<br />

determine physical layouts, material flows, type <strong>of</strong> equipment required,<br />

costs and secure other information prior to full-scale production. If a<br />

pilot plant is switched to full production and operation and used for other<br />

than testing, it should be treated as a principal permitted use.<br />

(188) PLAT<br />

A map or plan <strong>of</strong> a parcel <strong>of</strong> land.<br />

(189) PLATTED<br />

A lot surveyed and recorded at the County Clerk’s <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

(190) PORCH<br />

An attached open air projection from the outside wall <strong>of</strong> a dwelling<br />

covered by a ro<strong>of</strong> used solely for ingress and egress and not for<br />

occupancy.<br />

(191) PORTE-COCHERE<br />

A porch or cover, under which a vehicle may be driven temporarily to<br />

protect the occupants. A porte-cochere shall not be construed to be a<br />

“carport”.<br />

(192) PORTICO<br />

An open porch or walkway covered by a ro<strong>of</strong> and typically leading to the<br />

building entrance.<br />

(193) PREMISES<br />

All <strong>of</strong> a parcel <strong>of</strong> real property with a separate and distinct number and<br />

designation shown on a recorded plat, survey, parcel map, subdivision<br />

map, or a parcel legally created or established pursuant to this<br />

Ordinance. Outparcels <strong>of</strong> shopping centers shall be considered on the<br />

premises <strong>of</strong> the shopping center for the purpose <strong>of</strong> these regulations.<br />

(194) PRINCIPAL BUILDING<br />

A building in which the principal use <strong>of</strong> the premises is conducted.<br />

(195) PRIVATE DRIVEWAY<br />

A privately maintained roadway serving 2 or fewer lots, building sites or<br />

other division <strong>of</strong> land and not intended to be public ingress or egress<br />

(196) PRIVATE STREET<br />

An undedicated private right-<strong>of</strong>-way or easement which affords access to<br />

abutting properties.<br />
