allotted by Govt. of India. This voluminous work involves door to door approach
for which large numbers of field functionaries are required. After field work the
schedules filled in are thoroughly scrutinised which needs sufficient man power.
The department has now started the tabulation of these schedules and has
succeeded in bringing out the reports from 60 th round onward. The results of
these surveys are used for estimation of Consumption Expenditure/ Poverty line
and other Plan Indicators.
6.1.6 Census of Himachal Pradesh Employees
This conducts an annual census of all Himachal Pradesh Government Employees
as on 31 st March. The information as received from different departments
Corporations, Public Undertakings and Local Bodies is scrutinised and tabulated
and presented in a compact form. In this context publication viz; "Census of
Himachal Pradesh Government Employees" is brought out every year. The
department has now initiated to collect data about pensioners.
6.1.7 Collection of Prices Statistics
Besides Collection of Labour Bureau Prices for the construction of C.P. Index the
department also collects weekly retail/ fortnightly Whole Sale Prices, Live Stock
Prices for use in the computation of state income, the department also collects
prices of 16 essential commodities for the price monitoring in the state. The
department also supplies the prices of various building material to N.B.O. for the
construction of Building Cost Index No. This price collection work is done by the
District Statistical Offices of the Department.
6.1.8 Rural Development Statistics
The department collects all type of block wise data to be presented in Block
Level Publications.
6.1.9 Industrial Statistics
The Head of Economics & Statistics department being the chairman of state level
