i) Manpower engaged
The staff of DES, as given in Table 4.1 is deployed for preparation of Budget in
Brief, and Economic and Purpose Classification of the Budget. The staff of the
Finance Department is deployed for budget related activities.
j) IT Tools used
The IT tools of the Finance Department and DES are used.
4.1.6 Annual Survey of Industries
The State is not participating in this activity
4.1.7 Index Number of Industrial Production
Neither DES nor any other agency in Himachal Pradesh is compiling Index of
Industrial Production for the State.
4.1.8 Crop Area and Production Statistics
Estimates of production of various major crops are arrived at by estimating the
area under each crop in a year and the average yield per acre under each crop and
multiplying he two. The major crops are Wheat, maize, paddy and barley, millets,
pulses, vegetables, ginger.
a) Agency
The agencies responsible for crop production and area statistics are (i)
Department of Agriculture and (ii) Department of Land Records respectively.
b) Principal outputs generated
The principal outputs generated are:
• Estimates of area under various crops, agricultural season wise.
• Estimates of average yields of various crops, agricultural season wise
• Estimates of production of various agricultural and horticultural crops
c) Frequency
The frequency of data collection is seasonal.
