2.11.7 Department of Agriculture
This department has crucial role in the economy of the Himachal Pradesh. This
department maintain the important data base on food grain production, rainfall data, crop
cutting estimates, High yield varieties programme, soil testing programme, organic
farming programme, uses of fertilizers and subsidy, agriculture credit, kisan credit cards,
crop insurance scheme, seed certification programme, agriculture marketing, tea
development, soil and water conservation etc. The Department has a Statistical Cell but
lacking in sufficient number of statistical manpower (detail see in Chapter - 6)
2.11.8 Department of Social Justice and Empowerment
This department has important data base relating to Social security pension scheme,
widow/deserted/ Ekal Nari pension, Indira Gandhi National Old age Pension scheme,
Indira Gandhi national disability pension, child welfare schemes, women welfare
schemes, ICDS ,Supplementary nutrition programme ,schedule cast sub plan. This
department also have data base relating to IMR and MMR. The Department has a
Statistical Cell but lacking in sufficient number of statistical manpower (detail see in
Chapter - 6)
2.11.9 Department of Land record and settlement
This department conduct Agriculture Census and a very good data base on Minor
Irrigation Statistics, Crop estimation survey on fruit, vegetables and other minor
products, crop forecast report, agriculture Statistics, Annual season and crop report,
rainfall data, agriculture wages, farm harvest prices and village directory. The
Department has a Statistical Cell but lacking in sufficient number of statistical
manpower (detail see in Chapter - 6)
