h) Interactions with other agencies
The DLR and Agriculture Department interact with each other for purposes of
data collection, conducting crop-cutting experiments and other related matters.
Also, both these Departments interact with the Ministry of Agriculture at the
Centre and the District Administration in the State.
a. Statistical Returns
Non statutory returns are used for data collection.
b. Manpower Employed
This is given in the table below:
c. Quality of data
The quality of data suffers as (i) the land records are not appropriately
maintained, for example the records are not updated as per schedule; (ii) the
Patwari does not provide the required information in time as he is unable to
provide required inputs for the Girdwari work as he is burdened with many tasks;
(iii) in the case of mixed crops, the method of apportioning area between crops
does not exist; (iv) in case of many crops, only eye estimation is used.
4.1.9 Wholesale Price Index Number
Wholesale Price Index for Himachal Pradesh is not compiled by DES or any
other agency.
4.1.10 Consumer Price Index Number
Consumer price index numbers in Himachal Pradesh are not compiled by DES or
any other agencies in the State.
4.1.11 Health, Mortality, Morbidity and Family Welfare Statistics
a) Agency
The responsible agencies are:
• Directorate of Health Services for health, mortality and morbidity
statistics
• Directorate of Family Welfare Services for family welfare statistics.
