6.15.3 Crop estimation Survey on Fruit, Vegetable and Minor Crops:<br />

The Scheme <strong>of</strong> Crop Estimation Survey on Fruit, Vegetable and Minor Crops<br />

is a (Centrally Sponsored Scheme) was introduced in <strong>Himachal</strong> <strong>Pradesh</strong> for the<br />

first time by the Ministry <strong>of</strong> Agriculture, Govt. <strong>of</strong> India on 100% basis. This<br />

scheme has been divided between 3 Departments viz. Agriculture, Horticulture<br />

and Land Records. The work <strong>of</strong> Vegetable crops is done by this department,<br />

fruits part is done by the Horticulture department and Directorate <strong>of</strong> Land<br />

Records, H.P. is the Nodal agency <strong>of</strong> the scheme. At present two crops are<br />

being covered namely Potato and Ginger under the scheme.<br />

Objectives:<br />

1. The main objectives <strong>of</strong> the scheme are to conduct the crop cutting<br />

experiments by Random Sampling Method on vegetable crops.<br />

2. To estimate yield and production <strong>of</strong> vegetable crops through crop<br />

cutting experiments conducted by the primary workers.<br />

6.15.4 General Crop Estimation Survey:<br />

The scheme <strong>of</strong> General Crop Estimation Survey has been started from 1950-51<br />

and this scheme is a Non Plan scheme <strong>of</strong> the State. Under this scheme the crop<br />

cutting experiments by Random Sampling Method are conducted by the Primary<br />

workers <strong>of</strong> Revenue Department and Agriculture Department. At present four<br />

major crops are covered under the scheme namely Maize and Paddy during<br />

Kharif and Wheat and Barley during Rabi seasons and sufficient numbers <strong>of</strong> crop<br />

cutting experiments are conducted by the primary Agriculture workers.<br />

Objectives:<br />

1. The main objectives <strong>of</strong> the scheme are to conduct the crop cutting<br />

experiments by Random Sampling Method on major crops.<br />

2. To estimate yield and production <strong>of</strong> major crops through conduct <strong>of</strong><br />

crop cutting experiments conducted by the primary workers on Maize,<br />

Paddy, Wheat and Barley.
