6.15.3 Crop estimation Survey on Fruit, Vegetable and Minor Crops:
The Scheme of Crop Estimation Survey on Fruit, Vegetable and Minor Crops
is a (Centrally Sponsored Scheme) was introduced in Himachal Pradesh for the
first time by the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India on 100% basis. This
scheme has been divided between 3 Departments viz. Agriculture, Horticulture
and Land Records. The work of Vegetable crops is done by this department,
fruits part is done by the Horticulture department and Directorate of Land
Records, H.P. is the Nodal agency of the scheme. At present two crops are
being covered namely Potato and Ginger under the scheme.
Objectives:
1. The main objectives of the scheme are to conduct the crop cutting
experiments by Random Sampling Method on vegetable crops.
2. To estimate yield and production of vegetable crops through crop
cutting experiments conducted by the primary workers.
6.15.4 General Crop Estimation Survey:
The scheme of General Crop Estimation Survey has been started from 1950-51
and this scheme is a Non Plan scheme of the State. Under this scheme the crop
cutting experiments by Random Sampling Method are conducted by the Primary
workers of Revenue Department and Agriculture Department. At present four
major crops are covered under the scheme namely Maize and Paddy during
Kharif and Wheat and Barley during Rabi seasons and sufficient numbers of crop
cutting experiments are conducted by the primary Agriculture workers.
Objectives:
1. The main objectives of the scheme are to conduct the crop cutting
experiments by Random Sampling Method on major crops.
2. To estimate yield and production of major crops through conduct of
crop cutting experiments conducted by the primary workers on Maize,
Paddy, Wheat and Barley.
