The Department <strong>of</strong> Labour in the State does not have regular publications. However,<br />

publications <strong>of</strong> the Labour Bureau provide labour and employment statistics. Some <strong>of</strong><br />

these publications are listed below:<br />

1. Annual survey <strong>of</strong> industries, 2001-02: report on, absenteeism labour turnover,<br />

employment and labour cost in sample sector<br />

2. Statistical Pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>of</strong> Women Labour - Year 2004<br />

3. Pocket Book <strong>of</strong> Labour Statistics 2003-2004<br />

4. Statistics <strong>of</strong> Factories - Year 2000 containing data on:<br />

a. Estimated Average Daily Employment in Working Factories<br />

b. Factories carrying on operations declared dangerous and workers<br />

c. employed in such operations<br />

d. Estimated Average Daily Employment in Working Factories during<br />

e. Employment by Specified Normal Weekly Hours<br />

f. Leave with Wages,<br />

g. Industrial Injuries in Factories<br />

h. Number <strong>of</strong> Safety Officers, Ambulance Rooms, Canteens, Shelters, Rest Rooms,<br />

Crèches and Welfare Officers<br />

5. Statistics on closures, retrenchment and lay-<strong>of</strong>fs in industries in India during year<br />

f) Interactions with other agencies.<br />

The Department <strong>of</strong> Labour interacts with DES, NSSO, and the Labour Bureau for<br />

purposes <strong>of</strong> data collection.<br />

Statutory returns are used for data collection<br />

h) Manpower<br />

There is no statistical staff deployed for this activity. Work is being carried out by<br />

ministerial staff.<br />

i) IT Tools used<br />

This line department is not having any computers for undertaking statistical data storage<br />

and analysis.
