4.1.4 Contribution of Local Bodies
a) Agency
These statistics are compiled by the State Income Public Finance and Capital
Formation Division of the Department of Economics and Statistics.
b) Outputs generated
Value of State Domestic Product attributable to local bodies
c) Frequency
The frequency of data collection is annual.
d) Methodology
The estimates of net value added in respect of local authorities are prepared using
the income approach. The compensation of employees is the only factor income
that is considered. The Economic and Purpose Classification of the budgets of
local bodies, collected directly by DSOs from the local bodies provides estimates
of government expenditure under various purpose categories. Attempts are made
to collect data from all Municipal Committees and Panchayat Samities.
e) Time lag in release of data
The time lag in dissemination of estimates of SDP is as follows:
• Quick Estimates – 12 months
• Provisional Estimates – 12 months
• Final Estimates – 24 months
f) Publications and latest issues
Separate data on contribution of local bodies is published and it is available for
2010-11.
