Other Statistical activities include processing the monthly report on contagious
diseases, monthly report on slaughter houses and monthly report on market prices of
livestock and livestock products collected from the Regional Joint Commissioners of
Animal Husbandry, bringing out Statistical Handbook on Animal Husbandry .
Manpower position: The Department has a Statistical Cell but lacking in sufficient
number of statistical manpower (detail see in Chapter - 6)
2.11.4 Rural Development Department
The Monitoring and Evaluation Cell of the Rural Development Department collects
district, block, and village level data with respect to implementation of centrally and
state sponsored rural development schemes. In addition, the Department collects socioeconomic
data on women to provide inputs for decision making processes directed at
empowerment of women. The information is collected at Panchayat level by
investigators, and compiled and consolidated at the block level by Progress Assistants /
Statistical Assistants /Senior Assistants (Programmes), before sending the data to
District from where it is transmitted to the Department’s headquarters. The Department
has a Statistical Cell but lacking in sufficient number of statistical manpower (detail see
in Chapter - 6)
2.11.5 Department of Horticulture
The Department prepares estimates of area and production of several fruit crops
primarily through eye-estimation procedures. The Department has a Statistical Cell but

of teachers, number of students, teacher student ratio, drop out ratio ,number school
