have to report to him. The reconstituted statistics division under the<br />

DD, Health Statistics will report to the Director, Health and Family<br />

Welfare. The Deputy Director, Health Statistics shall act as the single<br />

source <strong>of</strong> information in the health sector.<br />

B. At the District Level:<br />

At the district level, Statistical Cell to be headed by a Statistical<br />

Officer. This statistical cell at District level should be responsible for<br />

the compilation, analysis & dissemination <strong>of</strong> all the health data<br />

including that <strong>of</strong> the private sector.<br />

C. At the Block Level:<br />

Block Statistical <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> department <strong>of</strong> Economics and Statistics will<br />

look after the data collection and analysis at Block Level.<br />

2. Accuracy and reliability <strong>of</strong> data:<br />

At the PHC level, the sub-centre level data should be thoroughly<br />

checked for its completeness and consistency by the supervisory<br />

staff and the medical <strong>of</strong>ficer concerned and then only forwarded to<br />

the BSO. Though this is a routine exercise, it has to be implemented<br />

more vigorously and monitored regularly by the BSO and other<br />

higher <strong>of</strong>ficers from Health Department.<br />

The statistical units at the district and block level should scrutinize the<br />

reports received from the lower level for completeness and<br />

consistency.<br />

Periodical sample check <strong>of</strong> data for completeness and consistency<br />

should be taken up by entrusting the responsibility to external<br />

agencies through outsourcing.<br />

The ICT infrastructure provided under the NRHM need be fully<br />

utilized to ensure fast transmission <strong>of</strong> complete and consistent data<br />

sets.<br />

The s<strong>of</strong>tware provided by National Health System Resource Centre<br />

(NHSRC) would be made use <strong>of</strong> to generate regularly important<br />

health and family indices for state and sub state levels and also to<br />

add any new parameters to the collection system with the help <strong>of</strong> this<br />

flexible s<strong>of</strong>tware
