2.11.10 Department of Health &Family Welfare
This department providing service which include curative, preventive, promoted and
rehabilitative services through 52 hospitals, and 77 Community Health Centre, 453
Primary Health Centres, 23 civil/ESI dispensaries and 2067 sub centres. Department
maintain very important data base on number of patients attended during the year ,
number of institutions , number of doctors, doctor patient ratio, Vector borne disease
control programme ,leprosy Eradication Programme, National T.B. control programme,
National AIDS control programme, National Welfare Programme and universal
Immunization Programme The Department has a Statistical Cell but lacking in sufficient
number of statistical manpower (detail see in Chapter - 6)
2.11.11 Department of Forest
This department is also very important data base because Himachal Pradesh has more
than 50% area under forest. Department generates important statistics on Forest cover
area, major and minor forest produces and forest revenue. The Department has a
Statistical Cell but lacking in sufficient number of statistical manpower (detail see in
Chapter - 6)
2.11.12 Department of Labour & Employment
This department has a very important data base relating to unemployment, labour
welfare issues, employee insurance and provident fund scheme, data related to migrant
labours, labourer’s availability according to the three specializations etc. The
Department has a Statistical Cell but lacking in sufficient number of statistical
manpower.
2.11.13 Department of Transport
This department is responsible for maintaining data base on Motor Vehicles Act/ Rules,
HP Taxation Act/ Rules i.e. registration of vehicles, issuing and renewal of driving
licenses / conductor license and to issue and renewal permits & realization of Taxes. The
