4.1.17.2 Water Supply and Sanitation
a) Agency
The responsible agency for collection, compilation, and dissemination of data on
drinking water supply and sanitation is the Department of Irrigation and Public
Health (DIPH). This Department is engaged in development of water related
infrastructure such as Drinking Water Supply Schemes; Sewerage Systems;
irrigation systems through source development, lifting water, boring of tube wells
& providing distribution systems; and flood protection works to protect life and
property in the State
