4.1.17.2 Water Supply and Sanitation<br />

a) Agency<br />

The responsible agency for collection, compilation, and dissemination <strong>of</strong> data on<br />

drinking water supply and sanitation is the Department <strong>of</strong> Irrigation and Public<br />

Health (DIPH). This Department is engaged in development <strong>of</strong> water related<br />

infrastructure such as Drinking Water Supply Schemes; Sewerage Systems;<br />

irrigation systems through source development, lifting water, boring <strong>of</strong> tube wells<br />

& providing distribution systems; and flood protection works to protect life and<br />

property in the State
