Hold workshops with the users to get their opinion about the<br />

data.<br />

Modify the s<strong>of</strong>tware according to the needs <strong>of</strong> the users<br />

The above measures will help in:<br />

Maintenance <strong>of</strong> data on registration and issue <strong>of</strong> license at<br />

all levels and its easy transmission.<br />

Uploading monthly and quarterly data sheets for state and<br />

sub state level on department’s web site.<br />

Uploading annual data within a month <strong>of</strong> the close <strong>of</strong><br />

financial year;<br />

Making Public Analytical Reports.<br />

B. Road Statistics:<br />

To develop a coordination mechanism among all data<br />

producing agencies/departments.<br />

Provide ICT infrastructure as proposed under <strong>Government</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> India.<br />

Develop s<strong>of</strong>tware for updating the roads status in the<br />

District Rural Roads Plan formed and developed under<br />

various schemes and to get updated data on category <strong>of</strong><br />

roads by using GIS, OAP and STADD.<br />

Bring out an annual publication <strong>of</strong> the department entitled<br />

“Rural Roads at a Glance” at District and State levels.<br />

A. Traffic Accident Statistics:<br />

Build the capacity <strong>of</strong> police personnel to analyze the data, use <strong>of</strong><br />

statistical packages and bring out reports at district and state<br />

level.<br />

Passenger Traffic Statistics:<br />

A data centre for consolidating the statistics should be<br />

established at <strong>Himachal</strong> Road Transportation Corporation,<br />

Shimla<br />

Private operators both authorized and unauthorized are not<br />

bound by any statute or rule, in the first place to keep an<br />

account <strong>of</strong> the number <strong>of</strong> passengers they carry and<br />

therefore the issue <strong>of</strong> furnishing data does not arise. Even if
