Summary<br />

A significantly higher percentage <strong>of</strong> a<strong>do</strong>lescents who self-recognized <strong>depression</strong> within<br />

two weeks prior to the survey than those who did not self-recognize <strong>depression</strong>, provide their<br />

COAD in the constructs, Anxiety Symptoms, Contextual/Causal, and Fear. A<strong>do</strong>lescents who<br />

self-recognized <strong>depression</strong> within two weeks prior to the survey had a significantly higher<br />

percentage <strong>of</strong> COAD units than those who self-recognized <strong>depression</strong> beyond two weeks in the<br />

category Indecisiveness/Impaired Concentration and Attention. In contrast, a<strong>do</strong>lescents who did<br />

not self-recognize <strong>depression</strong> beyond two weeks had a significantly higher percentage <strong>of</strong> COAD<br />

units than those who recognized <strong>depression</strong> in themselves within two weeks, in the category<br />

Social Impairment.<br />

More than 80% <strong>of</strong> the students in both sets <strong>of</strong> self-recognition groups generated COAD<br />

units in the category <strong>of</strong> Depressed Mood (see Table E1-8 in Appendix E 1, and Table F 1-9 in<br />

Appendix Fl for complete results). More than 50% <strong>of</strong> the participants, in both sets <strong>of</strong> self-<br />
