• Tunnel <strong>lighting</strong> (fig. 5) can be considered a very specific type of <strong>street</strong> <strong>lighting</strong> with<br />

various different and complementing performance requirements, measuring methods<br />

etcetera. For this reason, separate standards on tunnel <strong>lighting</strong> exist (e.g. BS<br />

5489-2, ..standards per EU country), apart from those on outdoor <strong>street</strong> <strong>lighting</strong>. Also,<br />

annual sales of tunnel <strong>lighting</strong> is marginal compared to outdoor <strong>street</strong> <strong>lighting</strong> and is<br />

expected to be lower than the criterion of 200.000 units annual sales given in the EuP<br />

Directive, article 15.<br />

• Lighting installations for ‘city beautification’ for which the function is:<br />

o to light monuments, building facades, trees, hills, other objects or subjects, (fig.<br />

6)<br />

o to light the surrounding space of the public areas in order to create a good<br />

appearance of the context,<br />

o to be itself as a subject to look for.<br />

Their function is completely different from the functions given in the definition of the<br />

standard and by consequence these products can have different characteristics.<br />
