SAMPLE CONTRACT<br />

solely <strong>of</strong> CONTRACTOR <strong>and</strong> not <strong>of</strong> COUNTY. CONTRACTOR shall bear<br />

the sole responsibility <strong>and</strong> liability for furnishing Workers’ Compensation<br />

benefits to any person for injuries arising from or connected with service to<br />

COUNTY provided pursuant to this Contract.<br />

24.0 MANDATORY REQUIREMENT TO REGISTER ON COUNTY’S WEBVEN<br />

CONTRACTOR represents <strong>and</strong> warrants that it has registered in the COUNTY’s<br />

WebVen. Prior to a contract award, all potential contractors must register in the<br />

COUNTY’s WebVen. The WebVen contains the vendor’s business pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>and</strong><br />

identifies the goods/services the business provides. Registration can be<br />

accomplished online via the Internet by accessing the COUNTY’s home page at<br />

http://lacounty.info/doing_business/main_db.htm. (There are underscores in the<br />

address between the words ‘doing business’ <strong>and</strong> ‘main db’.)<br />

25.0 NON-DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT<br />

25.1 CONTRACTOR certifies <strong>and</strong> agrees that all persons under its employ, its<br />

affiliates, subsidiaries, or holding companies, are <strong>and</strong> will be treated<br />

equally by it without regard to or because <strong>of</strong> race, religion, color, national<br />

origin, political affiliation, marital status, sex, age, or h<strong>and</strong>icap, in<br />

compliance with all applicable Federal <strong>and</strong> State non-discrimination laws<br />

<strong>and</strong> regulations. This includes compliance with Executive Order 11246<br />

entitled “Equal Employment Opportunity,” Executive Order 11375 <strong>and</strong> as<br />

supplemented in the <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> Labor Regulations (41 CFR Part 60).<br />

25.2 CONTRACTOR shall take affirmative action to ensure that qualified<br />

applicants are employed <strong>and</strong> that employees are treated during<br />

employment without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, political<br />

affiliation, marital status, sex, age, or h<strong>and</strong>icap. Such action shall include<br />

but is not limited to the following: employment, upgrading, demotion,<br />

transfer, recruitment or recruitment advertising, lay<strong>of</strong>f or termination, rates<br />

<strong>of</strong> pay or other forms <strong>of</strong> compensation <strong>and</strong> selection for training, including<br />

apprenticeship.<br />

25.3 CONTRACTOR shall deal with its Subcontractors, bidders, or vendors<br />

without regard to or because <strong>of</strong> race, religion, color, national origin, political<br />

affiliation, marital status, sex, age, or h<strong>and</strong>icap.<br />

25.4 CONTRACTOR shall provide access for COUNTY’s representatives to<br />

inspect CONTRACTOR’s employment records during regular business<br />

hours in order to verify compliance with the provisions <strong>of</strong> this Section when<br />

so requested by COUNTY, in accordance with applicable state <strong>and</strong> federal<br />

law.<br />
