emancipation account? emancipation account by opening, or having an adult open an<br />

account in your name with a bank or savings <strong>and</strong> loan<br />

institution that is insured. This account should be separate<br />

from any account you keep for basic spending money. The<br />

money that you deposit in this account must be from work or<br />

other sources that are part <strong>of</strong> your written independent living<br />

transitional plan. The money in this account must be used for<br />

purposes related to the goal <strong>of</strong> emancipation or when you leave<br />

foster care. If you need to withdraw money from this account<br />

while you are still in foster care, your social worker must agree<br />

in writing that the reason you need to withdraw the money is<br />

related to the goal <strong>of</strong> emancipation <strong>and</strong> place the written<br />

approval <strong>of</strong> the withdrawal in your case file.<br />
