(b) For any services not eligible for Medi-Cal reimbursement <strong>and</strong> not<br />

covered by private insurance, the CONTRACTOR shall, to the extent<br />

feasible, obtain medical, dental, or psychiatric care services for the<br />

Placed Child through a COUNTY or COUNTY contracted facility.<br />

(c) For any non-emergency services not eligible for Medi-Cal<br />

reimbursement, not covered by private insurance, <strong>and</strong> not obtainable<br />

at a COUNTY or COUNTY contract facility, the CONTRACTOR must<br />

request by facsimile prior written approval from the <strong>County</strong> Worker or<br />

the <strong>County</strong> Worker’s supervisor. If the <strong>County</strong> Worker does not<br />

respond to CONTRACTOR’S written request within three (3) business<br />

days, CONTRACTOR shall attempt to contact the <strong>County</strong> Worker’s<br />

supervisor. CONTRACTOR shall maintain written documentation <strong>of</strong><br />

attempts to obtain said written approval.<br />

3.4.4 Administration <strong>of</strong> Prescription <strong>and</strong> Non-Prescription Medications:<br />

(a) The CONTRACTOR shall administer all prescription <strong>and</strong> nonprescription<br />

medication in accordance with Title 22, Sections 80<strong>07</strong>5<br />

<strong>and</strong> 84<strong>07</strong>5. The CONTRACTOR shall record type, date, <strong>and</strong> time <strong>of</strong><br />

all prescription <strong>and</strong> non-prescription medication administered to the<br />

Placed Child.<br />

(b) At the time <strong>of</strong> a child’s replacement, the CONTRACTOR shall entrust<br />

any medications <strong>and</strong> court authorizations for the administration <strong>of</strong><br />

psychotropic drugs to the <strong>County</strong> Worker.<br />

3.4.5 Procedures for Psychotropic Medications:<br />

(a) The CONTRACTOR shall arrange for Placed <strong>Children</strong> on<br />

psychotropic medication to have a psychiatric/psychologicaI<br />

assessment, indicating the Placed Child's diagnosis, need for<br />

treatment, prognosis, <strong>and</strong> possible side effects <strong>of</strong> the medication. The<br />

CONTRACTOR shall arrange for the Placed Child to receive monthly<br />

evaluations by the prescribing physician unless otherwise<br />

documented by the physician.<br />

(b) The CONTRACTOR shall monitor for each psychotropic medication<br />

that: (1) the prescribing physician submits a request <strong>and</strong> obtains court<br />

authorization; <strong>and</strong> (2) these requests <strong>and</strong> orders are renewed every<br />

six months (Exhibit A-X). Upon receipt from the <strong>County</strong> Worker or<br />

physician, the CONTRACTOR shall maintain copies <strong>of</strong> the court<br />

authorizations in the Placed Child’s case record.<br />

(c) The CONTRACTOR shall incorporate into the treatment plan all<br />

psychotropic medication(s) the Placed Child receives. See Exhibit A-<br />

I, Foster Care Bill <strong>of</strong> Rights, <strong>and</strong> Exhibit A-II, Legal Rights <strong>of</strong> Teens in<br />

Out-<strong>of</strong>-Home Care.<br />
