Explanation
Pyrimethanil is the approved International Organization for Standards (ISO) name for N-
(4,6-dimethylpyrimidin-2-yl)aniline (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, IUPAC),
also known as 4,6-dimethyl-N-phenyl-2-pyrimidinamine (Chemical Abstracts Service, CAS No.
53112-28-0). Pyrimethanil is an anilinopyrimidine fungicide that inhibits the secretion of fungal
enzymes. It is a fungicide that is intended for the control of Botrytis cinerea on grapes and
s trawberries.
Pyrimethanil has not been evaluated previously by JMPR and was evaluated by the present
Meeting at the request of the Thirty-ninth Session of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues
(CCPR). All pivotal studies with pyrimethanil were certified as complying with good laboratory
practice (GLP).
