Decision Tree<br />

Follow the steps below to grow a tree using the Decision Tree method:<br />

1. Select Analyze > <strong>Modeling</strong> > Partition.<br />

2. Assign mvalue to the Y, Response role.<br />

3. Assign the other variables (crim through lstat) to the X, Factor role.<br />

4. Select the Decision Tree option from the Method menu. If using JMP, the Decision Tree option is<br />

the method that gets used.<br />

5. Enter 0.2 for the Validation Portion.<br />

6. Click OK.<br />

7. On the platform report window, click Go to perform automatic splitting.<br />

8. Select Plot Actual by Predicted from the platform red-triangle menu.<br />

A portion of the report is shown in Figure 13.17.
