3. Specify the Maximum virtual adapters that will be supported by the Virtual<br />

I/O Server and then click Create server adapter. The drop-down list under<br />

Client partiti<strong>on</strong> allows you to choose which partiti<strong>on</strong> can use the slot, as<br />

shown in Figure 3-28. Click OK when d<strong>on</strong>e.<br />

Tip: We recommend that you increase the maximum number of adapters to<br />

suit your c<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong>. Changing this value can <strong>on</strong>ly be d<strong>on</strong>e in the profile and<br />

to activate this setting you must change the profile and reactivate the LPAR.<br />

Note: Our experience tells us that it is good to have a server slot number<br />

c<strong>on</strong>sistent with the client slot number. You will save yourself a lot of time<br />

figuring out the slot mappings later <strong>on</strong>.<br />

An attempt to specify a n<strong>on</strong>-existing client partiti<strong>on</strong> name instead of a partiti<strong>on</strong> ID<br />

causes the error message shown in Figure 3-29.<br />
