In this test setup, both Virtual I/O Servers have Versi<strong>on</strong> 1.2.1.0 installed and will<br />

be updated to Versi<strong>on</strong> 1.3 using Fix Pack 8. Virtual I/O Server updates can be<br />

The client partiti<strong>on</strong>s are running AIX 5L V5.3 TL 05. The steps shown here are<br />

typical for all updates of the Virtual I/O Servers in an multiple Virtual I/O Server<br />

envir<strong>on</strong>ment regardless of the OS level.<br />

Before we start to update the Virtual I/O Server, we checked our client partiti<strong>on</strong>s<br />

to be certain that no previous activity, such as rebooting the Virtual I/O Server,<br />

shows stale partiti<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> the client partiti<strong>on</strong> or paths disabled. In these cases, the<br />

paths may not be operati<strong>on</strong>al, or the disk mirrors similar.<br />
