2. Get a larger disk from the Virtual I/O Server and use the migratepv command<br />

to migrate from the smaller disk to the larger.<br />

3. Have the back end logical volume or SAN disk extended and use the chvg -g<br />

command to get the LPAR to recognize the size change.<br />

See Example 5-18 for the client operati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Note: VIOS V1.3 will automatically discover a change in the size of a disk in<br />

the Virtual I/O Server. There is no need to unc<strong>on</strong>figure and c<strong>on</strong>figure the<br />

virtual device to pick up the size change.<br />

Note: The rootvg volumegroup cannot be changed using the chvg -g<br />

command. If you want a larger disk for rootvg, you must either add a disk or<br />

use the migratepv command to migrate to a larger disk. However, this could<br />

slow down the LPAR during the operati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Note: A reboot will not pick up an extended size of a rootvg disk (even if the<br />

bootinfo -s command will report the new size.<br />
