desired resource to install AIX 5L. For instructi<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong> installing the AIX 5L<br />

client partiti<strong>on</strong>s, refer to 3.4.5, “Client partiti<strong>on</strong> AIX 5L installati<strong>on</strong>” <strong>on</strong><br />

page 169.<br />

4.4.3 Working with MPIO <strong>on</strong> the client partiti<strong>on</strong>s<br />

AIX 5L will automatically recognize the disk as an MPIO disk.<br />

Note: MPIO in AIX 5L is currently for failover <strong>on</strong>ly.<br />

C<strong>on</strong>figure the client partiti<strong>on</strong> DB_server with an active path over the<br />

VIO_Server1 and the client partiti<strong>on</strong> APP_server with an active path over the<br />

VIO_Server2.<br />

Alternatively, if you use SEA Failover for network redundancy, you could direct<br />

the active path to the backup Virtual I/O Server for the network. See “Separating<br />

disk and network traffic” <strong>on</strong> page 204 for details <strong>on</strong> separating traffic.<br />

The following are the steps to c<strong>on</strong>figure <strong>on</strong> the client partiti<strong>on</strong>s:<br />

1. Log <strong>on</strong> to your client partiti<strong>on</strong> APP_server.<br />
