Attenti<strong>on</strong>: You do not have to do a varyoffvg and a subsequent vary<strong>on</strong>vg of<br />

the volumegroup to pick up the size change. If you do a vary<strong>on</strong>vg<br />

size.<br />

Run the chvg command to activate the new space.<br />

Important: At the time of writing, a logical volume that is used for creating<br />

virtual SCSI devices and that spans multiple physical disks is not<br />

recommended.<br />

Updating the VIOS<br />

The updateios command is used for applying upgrades to the VIOS software. An<br />

example of its use is shown in 5.4.1, “C<strong>on</strong>current software updates for the VIOS”<br />

<strong>on</strong> page 294.<br />

Example 5-19 shows the usage message of the command.<br />
