4.7.3 HACMP for virtual I/O clients<br />

The <strong>IBM</strong> HACMP software provides a computing envir<strong>on</strong>ment that ensures that<br />

missi<strong>on</strong>-critical applicati<strong>on</strong>s running in AIX 5L stand-al<strong>on</strong>e servers or partiti<strong>on</strong>s<br />

can recover quickly from hardware and software failures. The HACMP software is<br />

a high availability system that ensures that critical resources for an applicati<strong>on</strong><br />

are available for processing in a cluster of servers or partiti<strong>on</strong>s. High availability<br />

combines custom software with hardware to minimize downtime by quickly<br />

restoring services when a system, comp<strong>on</strong>ent, or applicati<strong>on</strong> fails.<br />
