added or removed from the partiti<strong>on</strong> at the programmed time. In this example, 0.4<br />

processing units will be moved from the partiti<strong>on</strong> VIO_client2 to the partiti<strong>on</strong><br />

VIO_client1. Click the Save butt<strong>on</strong>, which adds this task to the list of<br />

programmed operati<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Important: If you schedule a periodic dynamic LPAR rec<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong>, as in<br />

this example, then you must program other rec<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong> operati<strong>on</strong>s to move<br />

the same amount of resources into or out of the partiti<strong>on</strong>; otherwise, there will<br />

inevitably be eventual depleti<strong>on</strong> of resources.<br />

The operati<strong>on</strong> to start up or shut down a partiti<strong>on</strong> is similar to that for the<br />

rec<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

6.3.2 PLM policy rec<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong><br />

To periodically change the PLM policy file, you must use the PLM command line<br />

interface with a scheduler, such as the AIX 5L cr<strong>on</strong> or at commands. Use the<br />

xlplm -M command, as shown in the “Modify a PLM server” <strong>on</strong> page 412. Refer<br />

to the AIX 5L documentati<strong>on</strong> for informati<strong>on</strong> about the cr<strong>on</strong> and at commands.<br />
