• He never lost sight (nor allowed me to lose sight) of the systemic<br />
impact of my thinking and ideas. We always looked broadly at<br />
family, work, and life systems and implications.<br />
• He offered questions and pathways, not solutions. He remained<br />
present and awake . . . allowing me to do the same.<br />
• When I was really running amok, he did not hesitate to be<br />
instantly redirective.<br />
What did not prove to be useful?<br />
We are at very different seasons in our lives. Sometimes his sense of<br />
“been there, done that” caused him not to resonate with my excitement<br />
over an idea.<br />
As with every human interaction, we each were (from time to<br />
time) the object of the other’s projections.<br />
Are you aware of using the benefits of the coaching in your<br />
work today?<br />
<strong>Coaching</strong> senior executives is a part of my life’s work. His model has<br />
greatly improved my effectiveness.<br />
Are you using the benefits from the coaching in your<br />
continuing development?<br />
I continue to access a personal board of directors. However, as a<br />
result of this experience, I have changed the nature of that group. I<br />
am surrounding myself with more divergent and better thinkers.
