Agenda Items for an Initial Discussion Among <strong>HR</strong> <strong>Professional</strong>, Client,<br />

Boss, and Coach. This list of questions may be used in a first meeting<br />

between these parties to help set expectations for the coaching<br />

engagement. Refer to Chapter 4 for a discussion on an initial fourway<br />

meeting.<br />

Sample Agreement for <strong>Coaching</strong> Services. This is a sample of a relatively<br />

more formal agreement that describes the scope of coaching<br />

services to be performed by the coach. You may wish to use an<br />

agreement similar to this one as an addendum to a contract created<br />

by your legal department. Refer to Chapter 4 for a discussion on the<br />

initial contracting step in the coaching process.<br />

Sample Action Plan. This form provides an example of an action plan<br />

that begins with a goal, measures used to indicate the successful attainment<br />

of the goal, actions planned, resources, milestones, and completion<br />

dates. This type of action plan can be used by the coach to help<br />

the client articulate which development goals to choose and how to<br />

achieve them. <strong>The</strong> choice of goals is usually determined by feedback<br />

from assessments and other data collected by the coach. Chapter 4<br />

explains the steps often followed in the coaching process.<br />

Action Plan <strong>For</strong>mat. This form is an uncompleted action plan that<br />

you can reproduce and use in discussions with the coach and the<br />

client.<br />

Sample Progress Report. This resource provides an example of a<br />

brief report that the coach might use to discuss progress with<br />

the client as well as to keep you informed about the coaching<br />

engagement. It can be part of the Action Planning step discussed<br />

in Chapter 4.<br />
