E] Other Visits, Seminars and Workshops abroad<br />
14.11 Justice Smt. Sujata V. Manohar, Member visited Nassau, Bahamas and New York, USA<br />
during 17-21 May, 2004 to attend the Judicial Colloquium on the application of International<br />
<strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> Law and the review meeting of the World Survey on the Role of Women in<br />
Development-2004 respectively organized by the United Nations (Division for the Advancement<br />
of Women).<br />
14.12 Dr. Savita Bhakhry, Senior Research Officer of the <strong>Commission</strong> visited Sri Lanka<br />
to participate in the “Regional Workshop on <strong>National</strong> Laws to Combat Trafficking in South<br />
Asia: Sharing of Research Studies”, held in Colombo, from 25 to 26 May 2004. The main<br />
objective of the Regional Workshop was to share the findings of the legal research studies<br />
conducted by the UNIFEM in collaboration with research partners/organisations in<br />
Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka on the issue of trafficking so as to facilitate<br />
the work of Governments, NGOs and civil society in combating trafficking.<br />
Its other broad objective was to identify strategies in order to take forward the<br />
recommendations and suggestions made in the studies conducted in the aforementioned<br />
four countries.<br />
14.13 Shri Santosh Kumar, Director General Investigation and Shri Ajit Bharihoke, Registrar<br />
(Law) visited Dhaka, Bangladesh during 19-21 September, 2004 to attend an International<br />
Conference on “Institutional Protection of <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong>: Role of <strong>National</strong> <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong><br />
Institutions”.<br />
14.14 Ms. Sudha Shrotria, Director, Shri Y.S.R. Murthy, Deputy Secretary (Research) and<br />
Shri Sunil Arora, Assistant Registrar (Law) visited Ottawa, Canada from 1-14 August, 2004 to<br />
attend Internship Programme organized by the Canadian <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> <strong>Commission</strong>, under the<br />
CHRC-NHRC-IGNOU Linkage Project on Disability.<br />
14.15 Ms. Natasha D’Souza, Information Officer visited Accra, Ghana from 22-24 June, 2004<br />
to participate in the workshop on “Building an Effective Media Communications<br />
Programme” organized by the <strong>Commission</strong> on <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> and Administrative Justice<br />
(CHRAJ), Ghana.<br />

Center, Osaka, Japan visited the <strong>Commission</strong> on 26-07-2004.<br />
