Fees<br />

Tuition Fees<br />

Tuition fees for credit courses are based on course<br />

hours. Refer to http://<strong>selk</strong><strong>irk</strong>.<strong>ca</strong>/tuition/ for each<br />

program tuition and other fees. The stated fee<br />

amounts are in effect at the time of publi<strong>ca</strong>tion<br />

and may change prior to program start date. They<br />

are intended to assist students in their financial<br />

planning.<br />

All fees are due and payable on or before<br />

the first day of class.<br />

Cheques must be payable to Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Post-dated cheques will not be accepted. The<br />

Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong> Board reserves the right to revise<br />

fees without notice.<br />

Students are not permitted to re-register in any<br />

Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong> course until all outstanding<br />

obligations to the college have been met.<br />

Students enrolled in Cooperative Edu<strong>ca</strong>tion<br />

programs are assessed according to the college fee<br />

schedule during on-<strong>ca</strong>mpus study terms.<br />

International students pay tuition fees at the international<br />

rate. See http://<strong>selk</strong><strong>irk</strong>.<strong>ca</strong>/international/<br />

students/admissions/fees/ for most programs.<br />

Tuition Fee Refunds<br />

Refunds are based on the date of notifi<strong>ca</strong>tion of<br />

withdrawal if received in writing by the Admissions<br />

Office. Refund of fees prior to or during<br />

the first ten days of instruction* is 75 percent of<br />

the tuition fee, in the <strong>ca</strong>se of withdrawal from a<br />

course or program.<br />

Refund of fees during the 11th to 20th day of<br />

instruction is 50 percent of the tuition fee, in the<br />

<strong>ca</strong>se of withdrawal froma course or program.<br />

After the 20th day of instruction, no refunds will<br />

be granted.<br />

*Instruction is defined as starting on the first day<br />

of the semester or program start date.<br />

Fees for individual courses dropped will be<br />

based on these same percentages. See Dates to<br />

Remember.<br />

Program/seat/tuition deposits are NON-<br />

REFUNDABLE..<br />

International Student<br />

Refund Policy<br />

Students should familiarize themselves with the<br />

refund policy prior to submitting payment for<br />

their studies.<br />

In general, International students who:<br />

• withdraw prior to the start of instruction will<br />

receive a 75 percent refund of tuition fees.<br />

• withdraw in the first or second week of<br />

instruction will receive a 50 percent refund of<br />

tuition fees.<br />

• withdraw after the second week of instruction<br />

will receive no refund of tuition fees.<br />

• withdraw for medi<strong>ca</strong>l reasons or due to a failure<br />

to obtain a student authorization prior to<br />

arrival at Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong> will be entitled to a<br />

refund of tuition fees less a $100 administration<br />

fee. Students must notify Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

in writing and provide documentation prior<br />

to the start of the term. Once instruction<br />

begins, the above refund policies apply.<br />

However, students who receive their study permit<br />

on the basis of their Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong> International<br />

Admissions letter and appli<strong>ca</strong>tion (for example:<br />

SPP Appli<strong>ca</strong>nts) and choose not to attend Selk<strong>irk</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> after arriving in Canada, will not be<br />

refunded the first semester’s tuition fees.<br />

Full refunds, less a $100 administration fee,<br />

are given to students who do not receive their<br />

Canadian study visas.<br />

Students who wish to defer their appli<strong>ca</strong>tion and<br />

any fees that have been paid to the next semester<br />

must do so in writing prior to the start of the<br />

semester. SPP students <strong>ca</strong>n defer only one time<br />

and will not receive a refund if they choose not<br />

to attend.<br />

Senior Citizens<br />

Senior citizens (65+ years) may take courses<br />

and pay 50 percent of normal tuition subject to<br />

availability of seats.<br />

Audit Fee<br />

The normal course fee.<br />

Program Deposit<br />

Upon acceptance, all appli<strong>ca</strong>nts are required to pay<br />

a minimum non-refundable tuition fee deposit of<br />

$100 to reserve their space in their program. The<br />

deposit for some programs may be higher.<br />

Activity Fee<br />

Students are assessed fees for Campus Recreation<br />

and Student Activities.<br />

Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

Student Union<br />

In addition to tuition fees, all students are<br />

required to pay a Student Union Membership. Fees<br />

are set by the Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong> Student Union and<br />

amount to 7.2 percent of a student’s tuition where<br />

appli<strong>ca</strong>ble.<br />

The Student Union has implemented a Health<br />

and Dental Benefits Plan. As a member of the<br />

Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong> Student Union, students are<br />

required either to pay a premium (fee) for this<br />

plan or to complete an opt-out process available<br />

at http://<strong>selk</strong><strong>irk</strong>students.<strong>ca</strong> Please contact the<br />

Student Union office for more information.<br />

Special Fees<br />

Programs may have additional fees to offset special<br />

program costs. Consult the program of your<br />

choice for details.<br />

Official Transcript<br />

of Record<br />

Five dollars ($5) for each copy, payable in<br />

advance.<br />

Associate Degree,<br />

Diploma or Certifi<strong>ca</strong>te<br />

Twenty dollars ($20) for each dupli<strong>ca</strong>te copy of an<br />

Associate Degree, Diploma or Certifi<strong>ca</strong>te.<br />

Late Payment Fee<br />

A sixty dollar ($60) late fee is assessed on October<br />

1st for the Fall semester and February 1st for the<br />

Winter semester. Programs that do not start in<br />

September or January will be assessed a late fee<br />

after the first two weeks of the program.<br />

Prior Learning<br />

Assessment Fee<br />

The normal course fee applies to credits granted<br />

as a result of Prior Learning Assessment and<br />

Recognition (PLAR). For more information refer<br />

to the program contact information for each<br />

program.<br />
