AT SELKIRK COLLEGE<br />

The School of Environment and Geomatics (formerly School of Renewable Resources) is committed to<br />

providing the most flexible, nationally accredited environmental science programming in Canada. A<br />

one year advanced certifi<strong>ca</strong>te, three nationally accredited technology diploma programs, an advanced<br />

diploma and Bachelor degree in Geographic Information Systems and an internationally recognized<br />

research centre are all integrated to help students achieve success in environmental science and geomatics.<br />

F O R E S T T E C H N O L O G Y<br />

This is a strong field-based program that leads to immediate<br />

employment with government agencies and the forest<br />

industry sector.<br />

G E O G R A P H I C I N F O R M A T I O N S Y S T E M S<br />

The advanced diploma and Bachelor degree in Geographic<br />

Information Systems (GIS) are built on the techni<strong>ca</strong>l diploma<br />

foundation and provide specialized training for becoming a<br />

geospatial expert with expertise in GIS, remote sensing, 3D<br />

visualization and internet mapping technologies.<br />

This program prepares professionals for <strong>ca</strong>reers in<br />

environmental assessment, monitoring and planning with<br />

potential employment in government private industry<br />

Graduates serve the growing need for technologists in<br />

parks, recreation, and fish and wildlife management. Careers<br />

include fish and wildlife conservation as well as park and<br />

resource management.<br />
