Castlegar and Grand<br />
Forks Campuses<br />
This program is available to students whose<br />
a<strong>ca</strong>demic, social, emotional and/or cognitive<br />
skills and abilities require personal support and<br />
assistance in order for them to actively participate<br />
in a college setting. An Individual Edu<strong>ca</strong>tional<br />
Plan (IEP) is developed with each student to<br />
foster a<strong>ca</strong>demic, personal and social skills in a<br />
cooperative learning environment. The program<br />
provides students with training in Math/English<br />
upgrading, workplace skills, independent living<br />
skills (money management, meal planning, cooking,<br />
etc.), self-advo<strong>ca</strong>cy skills, personal management<br />
skills (time management, goal settings), and<br />
introductory computer skills.<br />

Silver King Campus, Nelson<br />
Program outcomes are largely determined by<br />
the students through development of an IEP.<br />
Social skills development underscores all training.<br />
Students also develop support networks. The<br />
program is designed to meet the needs of mentally<br />
handi<strong>ca</strong>pped adults, but is also open to adults with<br />
special needs who have the need for this type of<br />
training. Common outcomes for students in this<br />
program are increased independence, employment<br />
and becoming more involved in the community.<br />
Trail Campus - Food<br />
Service Worker Program<br />
This program provides an opportunity for special<br />
needs students to learn entry level skills for the<br />
food service industry. The program includes<br />
life skills development, a<strong>ca</strong>demic upgrading,<br />
vo<strong>ca</strong>tional skills, and attitude development.<br />
Students make and serve lunch to seniors in the<br />
Trail Community Centre as well as prepare several<br />
major banquets. The program is designed to meet<br />
the needs of mentally handi<strong>ca</strong>pped adults, but is<br />
also open to adults with special needs who have<br />
the need for this type of training. Common outcomes<br />
for students in this program are increased<br />
