Program Objectives
This program is for students interested in
becoming pharmacists to completing their first
two full years at Selkirk College. A detailed list of
courses is included. Completion of this program
fulfills the prerequisites for (and includes some of
the courses within) pharmacy degrees at UBC, U
of Alberta, and U of Saskatchewan.
Program Requirements
To earn an Associate of Science Degree - Entry
to Pharmacy, a student must:
• Select a two-year program of study in
consultation with a Selkirk College
counsellor. You may make an appointment
by calling the Counseling Office at
1.888.953.1133, ext. 273.
• Fulfill all the requirements for a General
Associate of Science degree.
• Have earned an overall grade of “C” or
better in each course (cumulative grade point
average of at least 2.0 on a four point scale)
calculated on all the courses counting towards
the Associate Degree requirements.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the Associate of Science - Entry
to Pharmacy program requires the completion
of Biology 12, Chemistry 11, English 12, Physics
11 with a grade of “C” or higher, and Principles
of Math 12 with a grade of ‘C+’ or higher.
Physics 12 is recommended, and Chemistry 12 is
STRONGLY recommended.
Course of Studies
The following is a suggested mix of courses to
satisfy requirements for the Associate of Science
Degree - Entry to Pharmacy. Courses should
be chosen only after consultation with a Selkirk
College counsellor.

• CHEM 110-3: Fundamentals of Chemistry
or
• CHEM 122-3: General Chemistry I

• PHYS 104-3: Fundamental Physics

Notes:
• Calculus-based physics (PHYS 104) is
required by UBC. Students are strongly
advised to confirm that their choice of
physics course satisfies the requirements
of the subsequent institution they plan to
attend.
• This program contains all prerequisite courses
required for entry into a BSc in pharmacy at
UBC and U of Alberta.
• Students planning to apply to U of
Saskatchewan should choose all of their arts
and general electives from Humanities or
Social Sciences; two of the electives should
be chosen from PSYC 100, PHIL 100, SOC
120 and SOC 121. With these electives, all
prerequisites for entry to U of Saskatchewan
will be complete.
• Students are advised to ensure that their
course selections will meet the degree
requirements of the subsequent institution(s)
they plan to attend.
