Program Objectives<br />

The Bridging Program in Engineering provides<br />

students with courses required in the first year<br />

of Engineering degree programs at UBC, UVic,<br />

SFU, and the University of Alberta, where<br />

students <strong>ca</strong>n transfer to complete the remaining<br />

three years of the degree. Students are strongly<br />

advised to check with the receiving institution for<br />

specific information on accepted transfer credit.<br />

Program Requirements<br />

Programs vary depending on the university a<br />

student wishes to attend. Courses should be<br />

chosen only after consultation with a Selk<strong>irk</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> counsellor.<br />

Admission Requirements<br />

Admission to the one-year Bridging Program in<br />

Engineering requires the completion of Chemistry<br />

12, English 12, Principles of Math 12, and Physics<br />

12 with a minimum grade of “A” or higher<br />

in each course. Students must attend an advisory<br />

interview during the first week of classes.<br />

Term 2<br />

• APSC 100-3: Engineering Graphic Communi<strong>ca</strong>tions<br />

• CHEM 125-4: Foundations of Chemistry II<br />

• MATH 101-3: Calculus II<br />

• MATH 221-3: Introductory Linear Algebra<br />

• PHYS 105-3: Fundamental Physics II<br />

• One elective* (three credits)<br />

* Some Engineering degree progams require<br />

Physics 201, Computer Sciences101 or an<br />

Arts Elective. Check the appropriate university<br />

website for details and/or visit a Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

counsellor.<br />

Course of Studies<br />

Course requirements vary among the universities.<br />

Students are advised to plan their program with<br />

a Selkrik <strong>College</strong> counsellor to ensure that they<br />

choose the appropriate courses to transfer into<br />

their university degree program. A transfer guide<br />

following is a suggested course of studies for a<br />

student interested in transferring to UBC.<br />
