Program Objectives<br />
As part of the Mir Centre for Peace at Selk<strong>irk</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong>, the Liberal Arts Diploma in Peace<br />
Studies combines core peace studies courses and<br />
peace studies-related courses offered by other<br />
disciplines. Students complete two years of<br />
university transferable course work in the liberal<br />
arts with electives in each semester, allowing the<br />
program to be tailored to suit your own unique<br />
interests. The program incorporates a service<br />
learning component and/or directed a<strong>ca</strong>demic<br />
research.<br />

Program Requirements<br />
To earn a Liberal Arts Diploma in Peace<br />
Studies, students must:<br />
• Complete a total of 60 credits of university<br />
transferable courses.<br />
• Complete all of the core peace studies<br />
courses, ECON 106 and 107, ENGL 110<br />
and 111, ANTH 205 and 201, and PHIL<br />
201.<br />
• Choose at least one elective in each semester<br />
from the peace studies-related courses.<br />
If you wish to add an ecologi<strong>ca</strong>l focus to your<br />
diploma program, take BIOL 104, 106, and 200<br />
as some of your electives.<br />
Admission Requirements<br />
Admission to the program requires the completion<br />
of English 12 with a grade of ‘C’ or better. Other<br />
prerequisites depend on the electives you choose<br />
to make up your program. Please consult with a<br />
Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong> counsellor for more information.<br />
NOTE: To ensure seamless university transfer,<br />
courses should be chosen only after consulting<br />
with a Selk<strong>irk</strong> <strong>College</strong> counsellor.<br />

Course of Studies<br />
