<strong>Drug</strong>s Used In Gall Stones and Heamorrhoids<br />

Dose:<br />

Untreated chronic infection TB, Moderate to severe<br />

congestive cardiac failure, known hypersensitivity to<br />

murine proteins or any other component of the drugs.<br />

Mild heart failure, seizures, Renal or hepatic failure,<br />

Pregnancy and breast feeding.<br />

Infection, fever, fatigue, muscle weakness<br />

agranulocytosis, hypersensitivity, lupus like symptoms,<br />

steven Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis.<br />

Infliximab is administered as a single dose for fistulizing<br />

crohn’s disease, the dose is 5 mg/kg followed by<br />

additional doses of 5 mg/kg two and six week after the<br />

first dose.<br />

DRUGS USED IN GALL STONES<br />

Chenodeoxycholic acid<br />

I: Gallstone disease.<br />

C/l: Pregnancy, lactation, hypersensitivity, atherosclerosis,<br />

biliary cirrhosis, pancreatitis, cholecysti tis, hepatic<br />

impairment.<br />

P/C ; Determination of hepatic function and ultrasonogram<br />

is advised prior to treatment. Serum cholesterol<br />

concentration determination recommended at 6 month<br />

interval during therapy.<br />

A/E: Diarrhoea, indigestion, loss of appetite, nausea,<br />

vomiting, stomach cramps.<br />

P/A : Capsule 250 mg<br />

Dose : 250 mg/day taken with food or milk in the morning and<br />

at night.<br />

D/I : Antacids, colestipol, cholestyramine decrease the<br />

absorption of the drug. Clofibrate, oestrogens,<br />

neomycin or progestins increase cholesterol saturation<br />

of bile thereby decrease the effect of chenodeoxycholic<br />

acid.<br />

Ursodeoxycholic acid<br />

I: Gallstone disease, biliary cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis<br />

and cystic fibrosis.<br />

C/I: P/C :A/E :D/I: Same as for chenodeoxycholic acid.<br />
