509.4.2. Preparation of base:<br />

(i)The surface on which the bituminous concrete is to be laid shall be prepared in accordance with<br />

Clauses 501 and 902 as appropriate, or as directed by the Engineer in charge.<br />

(ii)The surface on which the bituminous concrete is to be laid shall be thoroughly swept clean by<br />

mechanical broom and dust removed by compressed air.<br />
