(vi)The mix shall be immediately transported from the mixing plant to the point of use and spread<br />

uniformly on the bituminous surface to be sealed.<br />

(vii)As soon as a sufficient length has been covered with the premixed material, the surface shall<br />

be rolled with an 8-10 tonne smooth-wheeled roller.<br />

(viii)Rolling shall be continued until the premixed material completely seals the voids in the<br />

bituminous course and a smooth uniform surface is obtained.<br />

513.4. Opening to Traffic<br />

(i)In the case of Type B seal coat, traffic may be allowed soon after final rolling when the<br />

premixed material has cooled down to the surrounding temperature.<br />

(ii)In the case of Type A seal coat, traffic shall not be permitted to run on any newly sealed ar ea<br />

until the following day.<br />

(iii)In special circumstances, however, the Engineer in charge may open the road to traffic<br />

immediately after rolling, but in such cases traffic speed shall be rigorously limited to 16 km per<br />

hour until the following day.<br />

513.5. Surface Finish and Quality Control of Work<br />

(i)The surface finish of construction shall conform to the requirements of Clause 902.<br />

(ii)For control on the quality of materials supplied and the works carried out, the relevant<br />

provisions of clause of 501.8.4.1.<br />

513.6. Arrangements for Traffic<br />

During the period of construction, arrangements for traffic shall be made by as per direction of<br />

Engineer in charge.<br />

513.7. Measurement for Payment<br />

Seal coat, Type A or B shall be measured as finished work, over the area specified to be covered,<br />

in square meters at the thickness specified in the Contract.<br />

513.8. Rate<br />

The contract unit rate for seal coat Type A or B shall be payment in full for carrying out the<br />

required operations including full compensation for all components listed in Clause 501.8.8.2. (i)<br />

to (xi).<br />

514. SUPPLY OF STONE AGGREGATESFOR PAVEMENT COURSES<br />

514.1. General<br />

(i)This <strong>Specification</strong> Clause shall apply to the supply of stone aggregates only.<br />

(ii)The work shall consist only of collection, transportation and stacking the stone aggregates and<br />

stone filler for subsequent use in pavement courses.<br />

(iii)The actual work of laying the pavement courses shall, however, be governed by the individual<br />

<strong>Specification</strong> Clause for the actual work, given elsewhere in this <strong>Specification</strong>. (iv)The size and<br />

quantities of the aggregates to be supplied shall be so selected by the Engineer in charge that the<br />

grading requirements set forth in the individual <strong>Specification</strong> Clauses for the pavement courses,<br />

for which the supply is intended, are satisfied.<br />

(v)All the materials shall be procured from approved sources and shall conform to the physical<br />

requirements, specified in the respective <strong>Specification</strong> Clauses for the individual items given<br />

elsewhere in this <strong>Specification</strong>.<br />

514.2. Sizes of Stone Aggregates<br />

The stone aggregates shall be designated by their standard sizes in the Contract and shall<br />

conform to the requirements shown in Table 500-27.<br />
