v) All labour, materials, tools, equipment, safety measures, testing and incidentals<br />

necessary to complete the work to <strong>Specification</strong>s.<br />

vi) Arranging disposal sites; and<br />

viii) Dewatering;<br />

Provided, however, where presplitting is prescribed to achieve a specified slope in rock excavation, the<br />

same shall be paid for vide Clause 303.5.<br />

301.9.2 The Contract unit rate for loosening and recompacting the loosened materials at subgrade<br />

shall include full compensation for loosening to the specified depth, including breaking clods, spreading<br />

in layers, watering where necessary and compacting to the requirements.<br />

301.9.3 Clauses 301.9.1 and 305.8 shall apply as regards Contract unit rate for item of removal of<br />

unsuitable material and replacement with suitable material respectively.<br />

301.9.4 The Contract unit rate for item of preparing rocky sub-grade as per Clause 301.6 shall be full<br />

compensation for providing, laying and compacting granular base material for correcting surface<br />

irregularities including all materials, labour and incidentals necessary to complete the work and all<br />

leads and lifts.<br />

301.9.5 The Contract unit rate for the items of stripping and storing topsoil and of reapplication of<br />

topsoil shall include full compensation for all the necessary operations including all lifts and leads.<br />

302 BLASTING OPERATIONS<br />

302.1 General<br />

Blasting shall be carried out in a manner that completes the excavation to the lines indicated in<br />

drawings, with the least disturbance to adjacent material. It shall be done only with the written<br />

permission of the Engineer. All the statutory laws, regulations, rules, etc., pertaining to the acquisition,<br />

transportation, storage, handling and use of explosives shall be strictly followed by the Contractor.<br />

302.2 Guide lines for use of blasting material, personal & blasting operation are given below:<br />

(1) All the statutory laws, regulations, rules, etc. pertaining to the acquisition, transport, storage,<br />

handling and use of explosives are followed and information describing pertinent blasting method and<br />

procedures is furnished by the Contractor prior to starting the work.<br />

(2) The magazine for the storage of explosive is built to the designs and specifications of the<br />

Inspection General Explosives, Nagpur and located at the approved site.<br />

(3) No unauthorized person is admitted into the magazine.<br />

(4) No match sticks or inflammable material shall be allowed in the magazine.<br />

(5) All explosives are stored in a secure manner and such storage places shall be clearly marked.<br />

(6) The blasting operations remain in the charge of competent and experienced supervisors and<br />

workmen who are thoroughly acquainted with the details of handling explosives and blasting operations.<br />

(7) The blasting is carried out during fixed hours of the day, preferably during the mid-day luncheon<br />

hour or at the close of the work.<br />

(8) All public utility companies having structures in proximity of the site of work are notified<br />

sufficiently in advance of the blasting work.<br />

(9) For blasting work within 50 m of any railway track or structures, the concerned Railway<br />

Authority is notified sufficiently in advance of the blasting work.<br />

(10) Red danger flags are displayed prominently in all directions during the blasting operations. The<br />

flags are planted 200 m from the blasting site in all directions.<br />

(11) Sufficient safety arrangements shall be made, including positioning of manpower at proper<br />

locations to ensure that all persons including workmen are excluded from the flagged area at least 10<br />

minutes before the firing.<br />

(12) Blasting is as light as possible, consistent with thorough breakage of material.
