As a minimum, it shall cover the following :<br />

i) Organisation and management responsibility,<br />

ii) Document and data control,<br />

iii) Construction programme,<br />

iv) Methods statements,<br />

v) Process control,<br />

vi) Working, inspection, testing and documentary procedures,<br />

vii) Arrangement for traffic during construction and maintenance,<br />

viii) Control and documentation of purchasing and handling of materials,<br />

ix) Non-conformity and corrective actions,<br />

x) Internal quality audit,<br />

xi) Servicing,<br />

xii) Training of staff,<br />

xiii) Site environmental plan<br />

The general procedures of the QA programme shall be submitted to the Engineer for approval, not later<br />

than 28 days after the date of letter of acceptance. The special part of the QA programme shall be<br />

submitted successively to the effect that it shall have been approved prior to the commencement of the<br />

activities to which the programme shall apply. The work of building in quality assurance shall be deemed to<br />

be covered in the scope of the work.<br />

105.4 The Contractor shall furnish, at least 7 days in advance unless otherwise stipulated in the contract<br />

his programme of commencement of item of work, the method of working he intends to adopt for various<br />

items of work such as site clearance, construction for embankment, sub-base, base, surfacing, culverts,<br />

bridges, retaining walls, well-sinking, cast-in-situ piling, construction of cast-in-situ pre-stressed concrete<br />

superstructure, and such other items for which the Engineer demands the submission of the method of<br />

working. He shall provide information regarding the details of the method of working and equipment he<br />

proposes to employ and satisfy the Engineer about the adequacy and safety of the same. The sole<br />

responsibility for the safety and adequacy of the methods adopted by the Contractor will, however, rest on<br />

the Contractor, irrespective of any approval given by the Engineer.<br />

106. CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT<br />

In addition to the conditions indicated in the Contract Documents, the following conditions regarding use of<br />

equipment in works shall be satisfied:<br />

a) The Contractor shall be required to give a trial run of the equipment for establishing their<br />

capability to achieve the laid down <strong>Specification</strong>s and tolerances to the satisfaction of the<br />

Engineer before commencement of the work;<br />

b) All equipment provided shall be of proven efficiency and shall be operated and maintained at<br />

all times in a manner acceptable to the Engineer;<br />

c) Plants, equipments and instruments provided shall have adequate sensitivity, facility for<br />

calibration to desired level and shall be robust; d) Plants, equipments and instruments<br />

provided shall have data logging arrangement and control systems to enable automatic<br />

feedback control of process;<br />

e) Plants, equipments and instruments provided shall have adequate safety features and<br />

pollution control devices;<br />

f) Plants equipments and instruments provided shall be operated by skilled and qualified<br />

operators;<br />

g) All the plant/equipment to be deployed on the works shall be got approved from the Engineer<br />

for ensuring their fitness and efficiency before commencement of work;<br />

h) Any material or equipment not meeting the approval of the Engineer shall be removed from<br />

the site forthwith;<br />

i) No equipment shall be removed from site without permission of the Engineer;<br />

j) The Contractor shall also make available stand by equipments and spare parts; and<br />

k) The Contractor shall also make available equipments for site quality control work as directed<br />

by the Engineer.
