(13) At a time, not more than 10 charges are prepared and fired.<br />

(14) After blasting operations, all loose residual material below sub-grade is compacted and any<br />

material removed from below sub-grade is replaced with suitable material.<br />

(15) Maintain a day-to-day account of the explosives in an approved register. Such account shall be<br />

open to inspection at all times.<br />

(16) Sufficient arrangements should be made like posting of guards at proper locations so that no<br />

person enters the area of influence during the blasting operations.<br />

(17) All the materials, tools and equipment used for blasting operations shall be of approved type.<br />

(18) Excavation by blasting shall be to the lines indicated in drawings, with the least disturbance to<br />

the adjacent material.<br />

(19) The magazine shall have a lightning conductor.<br />

(20) The fuse to be used in wet locations shall be sufficiently water-resistant as to be unaffected<br />

when immersed in water for 30 minutes.<br />

(21) The rate of burning of the fuse shall be uniform and definitely known to permit such a length<br />

being cut as will permit sufficient time to the firer to reach a safe point before explosion takes place.<br />

(22) Detonators shall be capable of giving effective blasting of the explosives.<br />

(23) The blasting powder, explosives, detonators, fuses, etc. shall be fresh and not damaged due to<br />

dampness, moisture or any other cause.<br />

(24) The charge holes shall be drilled to required depths and at suitable places.<br />

Provide information describing pertinent blasting procedures, and dimensions to<br />

Engineer prior to starting any phase of the operation,<br />

Display prominently the following information in the lobby of magazine:<br />

A copy of the relevant rules regarding safe storage both in English and in the<br />

language with which the workers concerned are familiar.<br />

A statement of up-to-date stock in the magazine.<br />

A certificate showing the latest date of testing of the lightning conductor.<br />

A notice that smoking is strictly prohibited.<br />

Do intimate the hours of blasting to the people in vicinity.<br />

Do drill the charge holes to required depths and at suitable places.<br />

Do ensure that the man-in-charge counts the number of explosions and ensures that<br />

all the charges have exploded before allowing workmen back to the site.<br />

Do not perform blasting operation without written permission of Engineer.<br />

Do not store explosives closer than 300 m from the road or from any building or<br />

camping area or place of human occupancy.<br />

Do not keep any damaged blasting powder, explosives, detonators fuses etc. at site.<br />

Do not use any method of blasting which leads to over shooting<br />

Do not undertake blasting after sunset.<br />

Do no expose dynamite to the sun or allow it to get damp.<br />

Do not ram or pound the charge but press firmly into place.
