Gas supply system � capacity management<br />

The minimum requirement for the regulati<strong>on</strong> of<br />

supply to the ME�GI engine <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> a turndown ratio of<br />

3.33 which equals a regulati<strong>on</strong> down to 30% of<br />

the maximum flow (For a twin engine system, the<br />

TR <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> 6.66). Alternatively in accordance with the<br />

requirements of the ship owners<br />

Both the LP and HP compressor packages have 0<br />

=> 100% capacity variati<strong>on</strong> systems, which allows<br />

enormous flexibility and c<strong>on</strong>trol.<br />

Stable c<strong>on</strong>trol of cargo tank pressure <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> the<br />

primary functi<strong>on</strong> of the LP compressor c<strong>on</strong>trol<br />

system. Dynamic capacity variati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> achieved<br />

by a combinati<strong>on</strong> of compressor speed variati<strong>on</strong><br />

and gas d<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>charge to recycle. The system <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> resp<strong>on</strong>sible<br />

for maintaining the BOG pressure set<br />

tank pressure point within the range of 1,06 � 1,20<br />

bar(a) through 0 => 100% compressor capacity.<br />

At full load of the ME�GI engine <strong>on</strong> gas, the HP<br />

compressor delivers approximately 265 bar<br />

are c<strong>on</strong>trolled within ±5%. Compressor speed<br />

variati<strong>on</strong> c<strong>on</strong>trols the capacity range of approximately<br />

100 => 50% of volumetric flow. Speed<br />

c<strong>on</strong>trol <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> the primary variati<strong>on</strong>; speed c<strong>on</strong>trol<br />

logic <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> integrated with recycle to reduce speed/<br />

capacity when the system <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> recycling under<br />

standby (0% capacity) or part load c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

LP & HP compressor systems are coordinated<br />

such that BOG pressure <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> safely c<strong>on</strong>trolled,<br />

whilst however delivering all <str<strong>on</strong>g>available</str<strong>on</strong>g> gas at the<br />

correct pressure to the ME�GI engine. Load and<br />

availability signals are exchanged between compressor<br />

and engine c<strong>on</strong>trol systems for th<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> purpose.<br />
