In the first two types, called gratuitous bailments ,property is transferred to another person without either party giving orasking for payment. Gratuitous bailments are usually considered favors.In reality, however, definite legal responsibilities are placed upon boththe bailor and bailee.Bailments for Sole Benefit of BailorWhen a personal possession is transferred to another person forpurposes that will benefit only the bailor, a bailment for the sole benefitof the bailor results.Example 7. Your friend asks you to look after her car while sheis away for a week. You agree to keep your friend’s car in yourgarage. This bailment will be a bailment for the sole benefit ofthe bailor.
