Scenario LetterScenario Letter: Attachment IScenario NarrativeScenario Reliability Assessment ScheduleReliability Assessment Subcommittee has set the schedule below:2009December 22 Scenario Data and Narrative Request sent to Regional EntitiesMay 1June 15July 10July 22-23August 15SeptemberSept 24October 1Scenario data due to NERCRegional Assessment narrative due to NERCDraft Report sent to RASRAS Peer Review Scenario Case comparisonDraft to RASDraft to PC and MRC for reviewFinal draft to NERC Board of TrusteesTarget release and electronic publication of reportBackgroundDevelopment of a small set of Scenario Cases for comparison to a Reference Case is anextremely valuable way to understand the robustness of the Reference Case and to studypotential Scenario Case impacts on bulk power system reliability. The goal of the 2009 Scenario Narrative is to provide insights on the impacts of significantchanges in system characteristics and reliability. The Regional/subregional responses, therefore, should compare the results of the 2008 or 2009 ten-year Scenario (here forward call the ScenarioCase) and the 2008 or 2009 LTRA ten-year Reference Case (here forward call the ReferenceCase). The narrative outline and questions in this Attachment form the foundation for theRegional/subregional response to these comparisons. The background for this Scenario Analysisand summary of responses from each Region is found in Attachment II.Regional Scenario Self AssessmentPrepare a written assessment for your Region discussing any situations that could affectreliability for the next ten years — the write-up should be submitted in Microsoft Word format, following the Reliability Assessment Narrative Format-Guide, attached separately. To improvethe consistent look and feel of the report, please do not copy and paste tables/charts from otherreports, rather re-develop these materials ensuring the suggested templates are followed. Each Region is requested to include the specific information covered in the sections below. Ifyour Regional self-assessments are divided into subregions, the subregion assessments shouldaddress each of these sections and questions individually, with the overall Regional selfassessmentproviding a high level overview. Consistent responses representing all subregions canbe provided at the Regional level.Page 1842009 Long-Term Reliability Assessment
